There are many opportunities for those wanting land to build or a find a home in one of its established residential communities. New home developments continue to break ground as well. In spite of all the growth that is transforming this long-established farming community into a thriving Dallas area suburb, the schools are still small, the neighbors neighborly and the Mayor still knows everybody.
The historic downtown hosts an authentic square that serves as the community center for events and activities. Whether it’s an Easter egg hunt, a Christmas tree lighting or the Fun Day festival in September, these gatherings provide the opportunity to know the neighbors and build upon the sense of community that makes Celina a special place. Another favorite gathering place is Old Celina Park, where softball, baseball and soccer are full time entertainment in the spring, summer and fall for all ages. Tournaments every weekend attract people and children from all over Texas and Oklahoma.
Every fall season, the community rallies around the Celina Bobcats, who have earned eight Football State Championships for 3A districts in Texas. The Celina ISD is comprised of three communities: Celina, Anna and Weston. In addition to an extensive honors and advanced placement curriculum, the District offers a gifted and talented program for all grade levels and the option of graduating with a Distinguished Achievement diploma.
